The Ford Edge has made a name for itself in the crossover category in a relatively short span of time. This is because it is a five-passenger vehicle that has always offered a comfortable ride, a spacious interior, and a range of features to make it a popular choice for families and commuters alike. Now, the new Edge is out for 2023, and the following is its review:

Features

The 2023 Edge represents the 2nd generation of Ford’s midsize crossover. It is available with 5 trim levels. Two of these are the ST models which are catered to high-performance driving. You also get 2 engine options, with one of them being exclusive to the top-of-the-line trim. This year’s model gets some updates to the trims and some additional standard goodies.

Powertrain and Numbers

The Ford Edge 2023 comes with a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo that makes 250 hp and 280 lb-ft. For even more athleticism, you can get the 2.7-liter V6 with two turbos. It’s available exclusively on the top ST trim level and it makes 335 hp and 380 lb-ft.

All-wheel drive is standard on all the powertrains and so is an 8-speed automatic. The 2023 Edge ST should be able to do 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds. The other trims also do great here and they take less than a second longer to do the same.

Then come the hauling capabilities as it is a crossover after all. The Edge does well here, offering a maximum towing capacity of up to 3500 lbs. Its maximum payload capacity isn’t bad either at 650 lbs.

Despite the powerful engine choices, the 2023 Ford Edge does just fine in the fuel-economy department. The EPA says that it can do up to 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. This is if you pick the base engine; the V6 can do up to 19 mpg city and 25 highway.

Interior and Technology

The Ford Edge 2023 offers a comfortable and spacious interior, with seating for up to five passengers. Despite its rather compact size, it offers a lot of headroom and legroom for all the passengers, making it comfortable for longer journeys. 2023 Ford Edge SEL

The SEL trim adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and unlocks many optional extras. The driver and front passenger get 8- and 4-way power-adjustable seats; both of which are heated. The seats are also wrapped in ActiveX material. The safety department gains rear parking sensors.

2023 Ford Edge ST-Line

The mid-range 2023 Edge ST-Line gets some nice add-ons such as remote start, a wireless charging pad, a power liftgate, and a 110V/150W AC power outlet. The cabin also has ST-Line badging and red stitching. It also gets several exterior upgrades.

2023 Ford Edge Titanium

The ultra-high-end Edge Titanium comes with a hands-free power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, a premium 12-speaker sound system from B&O, and ambient mood lighting. 10- and 6-way power adjustability is now available for the driver and passenger respectively.

2023 Ford Edge ST

Finally, we have the Edge ST which loses some features to make the car lighter and increase performance. However, it also gets some niceties such as leather-trimmed seats, captain chairs, and some exclusive accents. Of course, most of its upgrades are in the powertrain and on the exterior.

Exterior and Driving

The 2023 Ford Edge has a sporty-looking exterior design. It features 18-inch wheels which can be upgraded to 20-inch gloss-black alloys on the ST models. These models also have their own dark front grilles and unique badging.

You can personalize the new Edge with either the Sport Appearance package that adds even more aggressiveness to the styling. Or you can opt for the SE Black Appearance package that gives a darker look to the vehicle.

On top of that, you get two warranties that cover your purchase. The first is a limited warranty that is effective for 3 years/36k miles. Then there’s the powertrain components warranty which is good for 5 years/60k miles.

Verdict

The 2023 Ford Edge ticks all the boxes of what every consumer desires. Its highlights are its handling and performance., but it also has a composed ride. The fuel economy is also great for the power that both engines offer. The interior is well-designed and it offers a lot of space for both passengers and cargo. It is also reliable, safe, and generally well-equipped.
