2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Review

The Ford Mustang is an American icon and a symbol of speed and power throughout the world. Three years ago, Ford decided to bring its characteristics into the shape of a crossover SUV, to a mind-boggling result – the Mustang Mach-E.

It is an electrified crossover version of the Mustang pony car that’s building a name for itself as a standalone vehicle. Its latest version – the 2023 Mustang Mach-E – is out and about. The following is a review of its highlights:

Features

The Mustang Mach-E was introduced back in 2021 and is currently in its first generation. It offers two powertrain options and five trim levels. This year’s Mach-E sees many updates which include a higher range, some exterior updates, and additional safety features.

Powertrain and Numbers

The Mustang Mach-E 2023 offers a pair of battery packs to choose from – 72 kWh and 91 kWh. The latter is available on all the models except the Select. All the models are powerful, with horsepower being in the 266-480 hp range and torque in the 317-634 lb-ft range.

Real-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive – which is available with the dual-motor setup – is optional. The result is that the quickest 2023 Mach-E can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds – beating many supercars from not too long ago.
Since this is a crossover SUV, you might be wondering if it can tow and haul like it should. Well, while Ford hasn’t exactly given this car any ratings in this regard, its European counterparts can tow up to 3306 lbs and haul up to 1000 lbs of payload, which are some estimates for you.

The EPA rates the Mach-E California Route 1 with AWD to be the rangiest as it can do up to 312 miles on a full charge. Then you have the RWD models with the bigger battery pack at 310 miles. Next up is the combination with AWD and the bigger battery – rated for 290 miles.

The ultra-high-performance Mach-E GT is next as it can do up to 270 miles. It is followed by the more athletic GT Performance which can travel a maximum of 260 miles. If you opt for RWD with the standard battery, it gets you 247 miles. Pick AWD and you’re good for 224 miles.

The 2023 Mach-E offers several charging solutions. With a 240V outlet, you can expect it to charge up to 80% overnight. If you opt for a Ford charge station, you can get the battery charged at 32 mph overnight.

Interior and Technology

The Mach-E features a fresh- and modern-looking design on the inside as well. The material quality is superb, just like the spaciousness of the cabin. All five occupants will love the premium atmosphere that this high-performance CUV brings to them.

Furthermore, the Mustang Mach-E comes with two trunks (rear trunk and frunk), both very reasonable for the class. The trunk is built to allow for easy loading (an adjustable loading floor is included). Also, the rear seats can be folded down to enhance the space even further.

The entry-level Mach-E 2023 comes with goodies such as push-button ignition, keyless entry, a 10.2-inch instrumentation screen, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a wireless charging pad, and ActiveX seats.

The infotainment includes a vertical 15.5-inch touchscreen that’s paired to a set of 6 speakers. The many safety features include automated emergency braking (w/forward-collision warning), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.

This gets you upgrades such as ambient mood lighting, memory settings on the driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel and front seats, and a premium 10-speaker sound system tuned by B&O.

Like the other futuristic cars in its class, the Mach-E also possesses an exterior that came straight out of a sci-fi movie. It has been designed to please the eyes and the laws of aerodynamics for maximum efficiency.

Any car that has ‘Mustang’ in its name should be a fun drive and the 2023 Mach-E is proof of this. It handles corners brilliantly, no matter how fast you’re going. The power delivery from the engine is rapid, and the steering is very quick.

Reliability and Warranty

The 2023 Mustang Mach-E hasn’t been rated by JD Power for reliability, but you can rely on the many consumer reviews out there that praise this car for being dependable. There are also no recalls or significant problems that have been reported yet.

You have three warranties offered by Ford. The first is the limited warranty of 3 years/36k miles, the second is the powertrain warranty of 5 years/60k miles, and the third is the electric components warranty that’s good for 8 years/100k miles.

Verdict

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is in a class of its own as it shatters the stereotypes of electric crossovers being boring. It does this with its high-performance capabilities and terrific driving dynamics. It is also very well-equipped and provides a lot of comfort and sophistication.
