2023 Lincoln Navigator Review

Lincoln Navigator

The Lincoln Navigator is one of the first vehicles that come to mind whenever the term ‘American luxury’ is mentioned. It is known for being a powerful high-end vehicle that can also tow heavy and be relied upon when the going gets tough.

The 2023 Navigator is out and available for sale now. The following is a review of its highlights:

Features

The Lincoln Navigator is currently in its 4th generation. It offers 3 trim levels, 1 powertrain, and 2 wheelbases (the longer one is the Navigator L) for you to choose from. This year’s Navigator gets some updates in the form of equipment packages and exterior colors.

Powertrain and Numbers

The 2023 Lincoln Navigator comes with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. As expected from a luxury SUV, it is a powerful engine that produces 440 hp and 510 lb-ft. This is sent via a 10-speed automatic to a rear or all-wheel drive system.

The Navigator is hence a full-size SUV that can destroy many sports cars on the drag strip. You can expect it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just about 5 seconds. It is also great at towing, sporting a towing capacity of 8700 lbs. The payload capacity is around 1700 lbs.

You then have the fuel economy ratings, which to the surprise of many, are decent for a car of this size and power. It is good for 17 mpg in the city and 23 on the highway with RWD. The 4WD version is able to get up to 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway.

Lincoln Navigator Interior

The Navigator’s interior has received praise from all its testers. It comes with an elegant interior design that is modern but pays homage to the Lincoln models from about 50 years ago. You’ll find that the cabin is full of the finest materials known to man.

It is also a class leader when it comes to cargo space. The Navigator has a large trunk and if that’s not enough, you can fold down the second and third rows of seats to make way for more space. The 2023 Navigator L models do even better in this regard.

2023 Navigator Standard
As mentioned above, the cabin is full of nice materials. These include the Lincoln soft-touch seating material, the leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the interior accents made from genuine wood.

You also get a lot of technology which includes tri-zone climate control, push-button ignition, remote start, keyless entry, a 12-inch instrumentation screen, ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, and wireless charging for your smartphone.

But we’re not done as you also get amazing seats. The front ones are 10-way power-adjustable, and they both have memory options. They’re also heated and ventilated; the same goes for the second row. You also get power-folding on the second and third rows of seats.

Then you have a state-of-the-art infotainment system that is based on a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a premium 14-speaker stereo by Revel, Amazon Alexa, satellite navigation, and SiriusXM radio. WIFI hotspot capabilities are also included, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The safety department is as good as it gets. You get automated emergency braking (w/pedestrian detection), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse brake assist, adaptive cruise control (w/lane-centering assist), parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, etc.

2023 Navigator Reserve/Reserve L
The 2023 Navigator Reserve gets you add-ons such as a head-up display, hands-free driving capabilities, and a panoramic roof. It also unlocks a whole bunch of optional extras to enhance the experience even further.

2023 Navigator Black Label/Black Label L
Finally, we have the ultra-sophisticated Navigator Black Label which adds custom accents, themes, and components to the interior. The trim also upgrades the front seats to 30-way powered Perfect Position seats, which give you the feeling that you’re in a private jet.

Exterior and Driving

The Lincoln Navigator has an upscale design that makes it stand out anywhere you take it. It is complemented well by its LED headlights, taillights, and fog lights. For maximum bling, it comes standard with 20-inch aluminum wheels, upgraded to 22-inchers on the two upper trims.

The colors available on the 2023 Lincoln Navigator are the following:

  • Ocean Drive Blue Metallic Tinted Clearcoat
  • Diamond Red Tri-Coat
  • Pristine White Metallic Tri-Coat
  • Ceramic Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat
  • Starlight Gray Premium Colorant
  • Manhattan Green Metallic Premium Colorant
  • Chroma Crystal Blue Metallic Premium Colorant
  • Chroma Caviar Dark Gray Metallic Clearcoat
  • Silver Radiance Metallic Clearcoat
  • Infinite Black Metallic Clearcoat

Be sure to check out which ones are available for the trim of your choice.

Almost everyone who has tested the Lincoln Navigator has praised the responsiveness of its engine, the smoothness, and easiness of its steering, and its handling of the corners. It doesn’t feel like a large SUV; the same cannot be said about its competitors.

And yes, the environment inside does resemble a high-end hotel room on wheels. All 8 or 7 occupants can expect to sit in a serene environment, that cocoons them from the sound and blemishes of the road.

Reliability and Warranty

The 2023 Lincoln Navigator hasn’t got a reliability rating from JD Power, but Consumer Reports gives it an average rating in comparison to its competitors. The data from actual consumers is positive with no issues being reported about this car.

The 2023 Navigator gets a limited warranty of 4 years/50k miles, and a powertrain warranty of 6 years/70k miles. The Black Label models get extra coverage. All the models get complimentary maintenance for 4 years/50k miles – a very rare offering in the luxury car industry.

Verdict

It can be said that the Lincoln Navigator 2023 is one of the best full-size SUVs on the market. It ticks every single box that you can think of in the areas of power, towing, build quality, comfort, technology, and aftersales. It is also super exclusive, which is another reason you should buy it.
