2022 Ford Maverick: Engine and Numbers

We begin with the Maverick’s powertrain. You’ll get a 2.5-liter hybrid 4-cylinder engine that will make around 191 hp and 173 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Maverick comes equipped with an e-CVT, which sends power to its front wheel.

Since this is a pickup truck, the payload and towing capacities may be more important to some. All versions of the 2022 Ford Maverick can carry up to 1500 pounds of payload. For the trailer conscious, it can haul up to 4000 lbs. Both these numbers are great considering the truck’s size and engine.

For the XLT, you can add cruise control and extra cubby storage in the truck bed. You’ll also be equipped with Ford’s FLEXBED SYSTEM which allows you to carry your bike more easily among other perks. Apart from the tech, you’ll also get more interior color schemes and bucket seats upfront.

Lastly, we have the Ford Maverick Lariat. This adds standard features such as a powered 8-way adjustable seat for the driver and 6-way manual one for the front passenger. It also adds dual-zone climate control, a larger 6.5-inch instrument cluster screen and ambient mood lighting.

Optional goodies include the moonroof on every model and so is a 400W inverter. For the upper two trim levels, you can also get heated seats, a heated steering wheel and 110V outlets. Wireless charging is an option on the Lariat.

2022 Ford Maverick: Exterior and Driving

While it doesn’t have the presence that the F-Series trucks do, the Maverick is certainly a good-looking vehicle. You can rely on it to be a useful companion for doing all of your heavy lifting but without the behemoth size as normal pickups.

There are differences as far as the trims are concerned. One can easily differentiate the XL. XLT and the Lariat from each other by looking at their respective grills and wheels. The XLT comes with 17-inch wheels while the Lariat comes with 18-inchers.

The truck is fast to drive in a straight line and the handling is decent. You can also take it off-road since you get a lot of ground clearance. As far as the engine noise is concerned, it is surprisingly quiet; even on highways. Overall, it is great for an inexpensive and rugged pickup truck.

With all that being said, is the Ford Maverick reliable? The answer is yes. Consumer Reports puts it at 3 out of 5 while JD Power hasn’t rated it yet. According to Motor Biscuit says that it has received a recall but it’s too soon to make any proper judgements.

Regarding the coverage, the 2022 Maverick comes with a warranty of 3 years or 36k miles. The powertrain warranty covers you for 5 years or 60k miles. The hybrid components are covered for 8 years or 100k miles.
